Cross Country Certification

For many members, certification is their primary reason for becoming a member of PSIA. Whether you’re new to teaching or a season veteran, certification is one of the best ways to advance your career as a ski instructor. Most ski schools offer increased pay and standing to certified instructors, with the benefits generally increasing at higher levels of certification. Once you become certified, you are required to maintain your certification by fulfilling the PSIA Continuing Education requirements.

  1. Become a member of PSIA-AASI.
  2. Complete the Cross Country Level I E-learning course.
  3. Attend and pass the two-day Level I Cross Country assessment.
  1. Obtain the Level I Cross Country certification.
  2. Complete the Cross Country Level II Workbook.
  3. Attend and pass the three-day Level II Cross Country assessment.

Cross Country Level II certification is intended for upper-level instructors who have been teaching Cross Country for several seasons and have a Cross Country level I certification. A Cross Country Level II instructor is certified to teach intermediate nordic lessons.

The Cross Country Level II and III  assessments are offered together as one event. Your intended certification level must be decided at the beginning of the assessment.

The Cross Country Level II/III assessments may be offered every other year if demand is low.
