Masters Clinic - Alpine
Spend all day with a DCE member, working on the latest and greatest techniques. Tune up your turns and your teaching.

Train the Trainers - Alpine
This FREE clinic is geared toward schools that do not currently have a NRM clinician on staff. NRM DCE will share ideas on how to improve your training technique to better educate and prepare instructors for working at your school. Also find out about opportunities to hold events and bring clinics to your Snowsports School to further educate your staff. This is clinic open to two representatives (alpine or snowboard) from each NRM Member Snowsports School. Although it is free, you do need to register.
Train the Trainers - Snowboard
Free to one trainer per member school (lift ticket not included)
Whether you’re a rookie or veteran snowboard trainer this FREE clinic will prove stimulating, fun and beneficial. The format will be open enough to allow idea exchanges, while also providing structured specifics on how to prepare first time instructors. Also learn how to grow the teaching, riding and service skills of your seasoned instructors.
Advanced Educator: Open to current alpine level III members only
This is the first step for instructors who are interested in becoming trainers, clinicians, or examiners. During this one-day clinic you learn about the DCE program, get high-level skiing feedback, and are evaluated for entrance into the DCE-IT program. After you successfully complete this clinic, you may apply to enter the DCE-IT program.

NRM Adaptive Seminar & Discussion
KelLe Malkewitz is past director of USA Recreation Center in Big Bear Lake, CA now residing in Vermont. KelLe is extremely knowledgeable about fundraising/grant writing, risk management, 501(c)3 issues, the use and training of volunteers in a program, how to market a program, and other programmatic related issues. We have the option of spending the day indoors as we delve into all of these important issues that impact our non-profit groups.
Bootfitting with Brent Amsbury
Get a personal boot fitting appointment with Brent Amsbury. Brent has worked with many of our divisions best for many years and they go back every year, so hurry and book him for Fall Fest before they do!
Appointments will be available Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 6pm to 9pm, and Sunday 8am to 3pm.
Appointments will be scheduled at 1/2 hour minimums, and all attendees interested will need to contact Brent at pcputah@gmail.com prior to Fall Fest.
Children's and Multi-discipline Clinics
ACE: Friday - Saturday
Led by children’s educator extraordinaire Eliza Kuntz, this educational course will be held both on and off snow and will investigate how children and teens move, behave, and learn as they grow. After completing this 2 day on snow clinic and the workbook you will be an ACE certified instructor. View additional information to prepare for the clinic. (Fri – Sat)
Avalanche Level 1: Dependent upon 5 people signing up by Nov. 1
Friday - Sunday
Led by AMGA mountain guide and editor of the Avalanche Review Lynne Wolfe. A new opportunity at Fall Festival, to become educated about backcountry avalanche safety. This 24 hour course will require participants to have touring equipment as well as beacon, shovel, and probe. This course is a prerequisite to the Avalanche Level 2, which is a prerequisite to AMGA Out of Bounds Ski Instructor Course. (Fri afternoon 1pm – Sun)
$60 additional fee

The Avalanche Level 1 clinic is now full. Due to the high level of interest we are working on scheduling a second Avalanche Level 1 later this season. ALPINE CLINICS
Ski Lesson: Ski with a DCE Staff Member.
Use our associations finest for a day to improve your own skiing. What a great way to kick off your season! (Sat or Sun)
So you want to be a Ski Instructor: for non members or folks that don’t have a certification yet.
This clinic will answer all the questions you may have about becoming a certified Professional Ski Instructor of America. Find out about this fun career and the opportunities it can provide. Test your own skiing skills. Improve your own skiing and teaching abilities. (Sat-Sun)
Level 2 Head Start: So you are thinking about getting your Level 2. This clinic will inform you of the reason behind why getting your level 2 is worthwhile and also give you a head start on the tasks and teaching you will have to be able to demonstrate to take this milestone exam. Must have current Level 1 the attend

“Femme Fatal” The Womans Clinic: Technical and tactical ski tips for women.
Led by women for women. The day will be spent working on specific women’s topics aswell as individual skiing skills. (intermediate group Saturday, advanced group Sunday.)
Why Change? Movement Analysis.
Analyze basic movements of the body and determine what muscles and joints createthose movements. Affect change in your skiing by identifying where your common movement patterns originate, effective and ineffective. (Sat or Sun)
Off Piste got you Piste Off? Tactics for off piste skiing.
Learn drills and tasks to help you develop your un-groomed skills. Experiment with different tactics to develop your off piste skills. (advanced group Saturday, intermediate group Sunday)
Movie Star: Video Analysis
Everyone loves a video clinic! This clinic is a bit of a ski lesson with video included so you can coach yourself as well. The AM will be video of skiing and tasks. At lunch you will view your AM video and discuss. The PM will have more video while trying out suggested changes. Video review will follow. (Sat or Sun)
Teaching Old Dogs, New Tricks: Teaching Seniors
This age group contains some of the most elegant skiers on the hill. Though they are a bit older than the hot shot in the terrain park it doesn’t make them any less eager to learn new techniques and skills. This clinic will focus on the specific considerations and methods to working with the skiers that are not quite as “over the hill” as some may think!
Essential Mechanics of Ski Boots and the Bio-Mechanics of the Foot and Ankle
With Master Boot Technician Brent Amsbury
More than just talking about ski boots, this clinic will focus on the bio-mechanics of the human foot and ankle, how a ski boot is designed to perform, and how that affects your skiing performance. This clinic will be 3 hours indoors, and 1 1/2 hours on snow. (Sat)

SNOWBOARD
So, You Want to be a Snowboard Instructor?
This snowboard instructor’s training course will cover riding, teaching/learning and service concepts created by the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. Taught by AASI-Northern Rocky Mountain Level 3 Clinicians, this clinic will be safe, fun, and informative. For intermediate and advanced riders.
Level I AASI Certification
Please don’t mistake this for a beginning teaching clinic! You need to have a minimum of twenty hours teaching, have read the new AASI Guide and possess intermediate on-snow riding skills. This two-day evaluated clinic will include video analysis and a written test.
Level II or III AASI Prep Clinic
Get a head start on the road to becoming a Level II or III snowboard instructor. Learn what you need to focus on to meet the new AASI National Certification Standards for the April 2-4, 2010 exam at Bridger Bowl. The prep clinic and workbook are pre-requisites to the spring exam.
Freestyle JAM (Sat or Sun)
For beginning through expert ability levels. Want to improve your box, rail, jump, and all mountain freestyle skills? This session is for you! Learn at your own pace through video analysis and friendly coaching. Helmets are recommended.
Creative Teaching (Sat or Sun)
Is your teaching a little dry? Are you serving up the same 1-2-3 step instructional sandwich to guests and need a little spice? Learn how to effectively change that boringsandwich into an incredible gourmet dish of creativity and fun. Presentation does matter!
All Mountain (Sat or Sun)
Focus on your riding! Explore the mountain while imbibing bits of feedback from experienced coaches.
NORDIC
Level I Telemark
Level I certification is intended for entry-level or first-year instructors. A level I instructor is certified to teach beginner Nordic lessons, whether the student is entirely new to skiing or is crossing over from another discipline.
Level 1 certification is achieved after passing a 2-day Level I Evaluated Clinic. This clinic includes a written test, skiing, teaching scenarios and discussions. Please download the workbook, complete and bring to the event.
NW Yellowstone Ski
Meet at the ranch to get set up with all equipment needed for a tour of Yellowstone National Park. Group will travel to the park to together and do a ski tour on light telemark equipment. Hopefully you will see some of the treasures of Yellowstone before they hide for the winter season. (Sat)
Bust the Tele Rust
Knock the rust off of your skis and your technique. National Team Member Tom Marshall will help you get tuned up for the season. (Sat and/or Sun)
Skate Clinic
Head down to Lone Mountain Ranch to get your legs and technique ready for the skate season. Ranch staff will provide instruction appropriate to your level. Hopefully this season we will not be waxing for such frigid temperatures. (Sun)
ADAPTIVE
Helping with Special Needs Students
Spend two days working on your teaching skills so that you can help your studentprogress. Give them the skills they need to advance. Teaching basics are the same whether your sudent is abled or disabled. See how your bag of tricks works for all students. Skiing is skiing regardless of the equipment being used. (Sat-Sun)
Teaching Special Needs Students 3T/4T, VI, Cog/DD
KelLe Malkewitz is L3 adaptive, senior examiner/trainer when she lived in the West. KelLe is exceptional at VI, Cog/DD, 3T, and 4T. The two days will be centered in basic teaching skills that will further the development of our students. We will get into using some equipment. (Sat - Sun)
