Children's Snowsports Education

Red Lodge Mountain to Host Kid Pros!

Red Lodge Mountain Resort, located just 6 miles from the historic resort town of Red Lodge , will host the Northern Rocky Mountain Children's Accreditation Course this season. While Red Lodge Mountain has hosted a variety of events in the past, this will be the first A.C.E. to be given in Red Lodge. Instructors from Montana , North and South Dakota , and Wyoming are invited to receive free lift tickets during the event and highly discounted lift tickets on either end of the course. Instructors completing this two-day course, along with the workbook will be recognized as an Accredited Children's Educator (ACE) by PSIA/AASI-NRM.

Led by members of the children's education clinician team, this educational course will be held both on and off snow and will investigate how children and teens move, behave, and learn as they grow. Additionally, the clinicians will facilitate discussions and activities that will help instructors design lesson plans that encourage exploration of the mountain environment on skis or snowboards. Instructors will be given a self-study handbook that quizzes their knowledge about the information shared during the course as well as information referenced from the PSIA Children's Instruction Manual (That's the one with the green cover and can be borrowed from fellow instructors or purchased from the Accessories catalog prior to the start of the course)

Children are an instructor's best job security and a resort's most cherished guests and parents and employers are looking for the most qualified instructors to be trusted with their 3-13 year old age group. As you plan your continuing education path this season, I encourage you to participate in this course and, perhaps, gain new insight into a truly wonderful aspect of the snowsports industry. At some point in almost everybody's career, you make a positive impact on the experiences of a child, either by parenting, teaching, coaching, or simply talking to a child. Are teaching children as small adults, or are you actually making decisions based on your knowledge of their cognitive, affective and physical domains? On January 22nd and 23rd test YOUR domains at Red Lodge Mountain.
